The 2nd Focus Ireland UK Three Peaks 36 Hour Challenge in association with CARE International UK invites teams of between 3 and 5 walkers plus a minimum of two drivers per vehicle to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 36 hours and raise a minimum of €4,500 in sponsorship to help people who are homeless. The event will take place on the 10th – 13th September 2010. Places will be limited to 20 teams and will be offered on a first come basis. During the Focus Ireland UK 3 Peaks 36 Hour Challenge you will climb Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344 meters), Scafell Pike in England: (978 metres) and Snowdon in Wales (1085 meters).
The entire distance walked will be approximately 40 km, the height climbed will be around 10,000 feet, and the distance to be covered between the mountains is some 450 miles.
The challenge will start on Saturday morning in one of Scotland’s most beautiful natural Valleys, the Glen Nevis Valley at the base of Ben Nevis. You will drive through the night to the Lake District in Wales and start a dawn (and head torch lit) ascent of Scafell Pike. Your final challenge will be Snowdon, the challenge will finish on Sunday evening at the base of Snowdon with a well deserved after party and awards ceremony. You make your way home on Monday 13th September.
Participants will be asked to pay a €300 registration fee and then to raise the balance before the challenge weekend. €1000 of your fundraising money will go to help those in need in the UK, through the CARE UK poverty agency.
