Together we make a big difference. Last year we helped 480 families out of homelessness.
On Friday 18th October our annual Shine a Light Business Leaders sleep-out will take place in the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place, Dublin and Cork’s historic Spike Island.
Calls on the business community to send a message of solidarity to people experiencing homelessness in Ireland, and give one night to change a lifetime by sleeping-out on October 18th and raising funds to support the vital work of Focus Ireland.
To take part in Focus Ireland’s Shine a Light Night 2019, we ask you to raise or donate €5000 and sleep-out for one night.
Speaking at the launch of Shine A Light Night Catherine O’Kelly, Managing Director, Bord Gáis Energy said, “The current homeless crisis in towns and communities across Ireland is the worst it has ever been. It is heart-breaking that 3,821 children in Ireland today have no home. The team and I in Bord Gáis Energy are committed to supporting Focus Ireland in the crucial work it does to help alleviate the factors that cause homelessness and increase support for those who are at risk of losing their home”. The sponsorship is in addition to the energy company’s ongoing partnership with the charity which since 2015 has seen Bord Gáis Energy donate more than €2.4m to help combat family homelessness.

Last year, we helped 500 families to escape homelessness and move into a home of their own, we also helped 300 families from losing their home. That’s 800 families’ whose lives have changed forever; who can now wake up on Sunday morning and cook breakfast together in their own kitchen. That’s amazing. Shine A Light Night played a vital part in achieving this. Thank you to everyone who took part and made a difference to the lives of so many people.
The time has come again to give up your comfort for change, for those in a position of influence to stand together and commit to making a difference in the lives of people who are homeless in Ireland today – and to compel others to do the same.
Since 2012, with your help, Shine A Light Night has raised over 4 Million Euro for people who are experiencing homelessness all over Ireland. In 2018, this support enabled us to help over 15,500 people.
So, will you give one night to change a lifetime?
