Camino de Santiago
25 September – 2 October 2025
Camino Walk Challenge
Join us on a meaningful and inspiring journey along the Portuguese Coastal Route of the Camino de Santiago. This pilgrimage is not only an opportunity to experience the beauty and serenity of the Camino but also to raise funds to enable Focus Ireland in our mission to end homelessness for good.
The route
This section of the route from Oia to Santiago de Compostela takes you along the coast around to the Vigo estuary. You will get the opportunity to stay in the beautiful coastal cities of Baiona and Vigo before rejoining the traditional Camino Portugues from Redondela to Santiago de Compostela. This part of Portugal’s Camino de Santiago coastal route is known for its seafood, in particular its oysters and scallops. Wash it down with the local Albarino wine for a true gastronomic delight.
Oia > Baiona > Vigo > Pontevedra > Caldas De Reis > Padron > Santiago De Compostella
Fundraising
Every one of us has a right to a place we can call home. Yet in Ireland today, more and more people are becoming homeless. The number of families in emergency accommodation has doubled in the last two years alone.
Homelessness is simply wrong, and it’s the most vulnerable in our communities paying the price.
By raising €3000 and participating in this year’s pilgrimage, you are helping people get back their hope for the future, and helping young people and families get back on their feet and into homes, through our support services, campaigning and housing provision.
