Why can’t we stop our banks from making children homeless?
Every month around 20 families become homeless simply because their landlord has been forced to sell up by their bank. This means around 40 children each month are losing their homes and joining the 1,200 families already experiencing the trauma and disruption of living in emergency homeless accommodation.
Dean Lynch is nearly two years old. And like most boys his age he is playful, affectionate and mischievous. Last year was Dean’s first Christmas. His mum, Nicola, had hoped she would be in her own home by then. But instead she and her two children endured a typical Christmas for families living in emergency homeless accommodation. Then just a few weeks ago, after Nicola had endured nearly two years of confusion and stress – and spent countless nights comforting and reassuring her young children – we had the great joy of telling Nicola that we had found her a home in long-term supported housing. That means they now have a suitable and secure home of their own as well as the ongoing support of our team for as long as they need it.Donate Today
