Big Rebel Sleep Out

Focus Ireland confirm Big Rebel Sleep Out to still take place but with new precautions in place in light of CoVid-19 emergency

Given the current Covid-19 crisis gripping the country, the Big Rebel Sleep-out as we know it, has been amended to meet current public health guidelines and protocols. It is a situation Focus Ireland will continue to monitor and make amendments as required.

We are asking Corkonians to simulate a sleep-out in their own home and link in virtually with others taking part – we can come together to challenge homelessness by staying apart!

Join players and staff from Cork City FC and Red FM by simulating a sleeping-out at home on April 25th. You will show your support for the men, women and children experiencing homelessness and to raise vital funds for Focus Ireland’s work.

As we face into an uncertain future, your support is more important and more powerful than ever. You can make a difference.

The number of people experiencing homelessness or in danger falling into homelessness is at a record high. The homeless and housing crisis is deepening, with children and young people the most severely impacted and they are also the most vulnerable during this CoVID-19 pandemic.

For over 4,000 children across Ireland, including children here in Cork, the housing and homeless crisis is a shocking reality. The largest group of people among those who are homeless are 0-4 years.

Every aspect of a child’s life is impacted, from play to education to diet. However, thanks to the hard work of Focus Ireland staff around Cork, we can support families as they seek to exit homelessness. We also prevent families from falling into homelessness in the first case. Here in Cork the organisation has been working with local people since the turn of the millennium.
